Visiting Childhood Favorites

Today we decided to introduce Emma to one of our childhood favorites: The Enchanted Forest.  Neither Glenn nor I had been here since childhood, so we were eager to see if it lived up to our memories, and if Emma would enjoy it.  Glenn took the day off work, and we packed up and drove on down.
I had totally forgotten that this park was built on the side of a steep hill.  It ended up being a really good workout for us, and we were lucky with beautiful weather.  As we paid for our admission, Emma was not sure about this place.  In fact, she refused to get out of her stroller.  When we walked into the Castle, she was so upset.  She did not like the dark, and walking in from such a bright outside to this not well lit inside did not appeal to her at all.

Emma finally became more interested when we reached the giant mushrooms and flowers from the Alice in Wonderland section.  They were all outside, so no going into scary dark spaces.  As we traveled the storybook land, she was always willing to look at the outside displays, but we continued to have a difficult time getting her inside.
I love this photo above, because it was sort of the theme for this day.  Glenn or I would stand in a door, and try to get Emma to come with us.  She of course would refuse.  In this case, all I wanted was a photo of her with daddy, but she would not even stand on the old lady's tongue! At least after we moved on she was willing to pose with Daddy for this next one.

At the end of all the story  displays, we came to the old woman's shoe slide.  After watching a few times, Emma decided that she could do this, and would have done it twenty times if we had let her.  After her third trip, the line went from 1 to 15, so we called it quits and moved on.

When we came to the Frontier town, Emma was all about shopping with Daddy.  I think she has picked up his window shopping bug.  I am more about sitting down waiting for them! :)

We didn't think that we would be doing any of the rides while we were here, but Emma took one look and changed our minds.  The first stop was the bumper boats, which she had all to herself.  She was happy until she kept getting stuck in the corner, and the helpers were busy loading more kids.  Then she decided she was done.
Next Emma discovered this train, and she was in heaven. She wanted Mommy and Daddy to join her, but after watching a regular sized couple have difficult getting in and out of it, I decided there was no way we were going to fit.  We talked Emma into going on her own, which she discovered she loved doing.  She hopped right back in line for three consecutive rides (always sitting in the same spot!)  She was so cute buckling her belt, and then waiting for the attendant to let her loose after the ride. She did great on these rides, and it was a good test and prep for our Disney Trip in October.

All in all, we had a great day sharing one of our childhood favorites with our daughter.  We have hopes that over the years it will also become one of her favorites. I plan to enjoy taking her back many times over the next several years!
